After conceding a penalty from Parejo in the 49th minute, the visitors came back quickly. In the 56th minute, Brazilian Savio played a precise pass to Dovbik and, in the 61st minute, Eric Garcia put Girona ahead. Stuani could have scored another goal, but he hit the post in the 78th minute. Sávio played the entire match, while his fellow countryman Couto came on in the 52nd minute. Real Madrid – Las Palmas – 2:0
After Barcelona dropped points in a 2-2 draw with Mallorca, Real Madrid seized the opportunity with both hands to overtake Xavi’s men and leapfrog them into second place in La Liga with a 2-0 win over Las Palmas.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side welcomed Las Palmas to the Santiago Bernabéu looking to bounce back from their 3-1 defeat in the Derby. David Alaba limped off in the first half, adding to Madrid’s tally of injuries in their only loss during a convincing conquest.
Real got off to a promising start, with Brazilian striker Rodrygo making a wonderful save from a shot by Álvaro Valles. The Spaniard was on hand to save Joselu, and Valles continued his excellent performance between the posts, saving Nacho, Brahim Diaz and Joselu again. Lucas Vázquez played a part in the first goal of the game, passing to Brahim and the Spaniard finished calmly.
After the restart, Rodrygo found Joselu and the Spaniard’s accurate header made it 2-0, sealing the three points. Rodrygo put in an impressive performance as he completed the entire game, while Vinicius returned from injury and played 30-something minutes.
