Brazilian Vinicius de Oliveira recently won a place in the UFC through the “Contender Series”. He quickly knocked out Victor Madrigal with a knockout in just one round, leaving Dana White completely impressed with his performance on Tuesday (September 26) in Las Vegas.
The company director was so surprised by Vinicius’ display that he took a moment to recognize the athlete’s exceptional skills. During the conclusion of the program and at the press conference that followed, White couldn’t contain his excitement about signing Vinicius.
In his opinion, Vinicius did everything impeccably in the octagon and met his expectations admirably. After approving Vinicius’ performance, Dana suggested the possibility of his debut in the UFC’s bantamweight division (61 kg) against a formidable opponent, stressing his confidence in Vinicius’ caliber.
“He applied one of the most violent knockouts of the season. He has 19 wins and 3 losses, 14 knockouts, two finishes and is 27 years old. He’s one of those guys who I feel we can put in a big fight right away. He did what you’re supposed to do, especially when you’re the favorite. He did what everyone expected of him. When you have a guy who has that kind of experience, he’s won seven of his last eight fights, almost all of his victories have been via quick strikes. He’s coming into the UFC and needs to get rid of the nerves in his first few fights, but he’s a guy you can put in some real fights“, said White.
At the age of 27, Vinicius de Oliveira is a promising MMA competitor, having been discovered by the “Contender Series”. Since the start of his journey in the sport in 2015, he has amassed an impressive record of 19 wins, 17 of which by quick finishes (15 knockouts and two submissions) and just three losses.
