the Brasileirão leaders, at the Arena Neo Química. The victory came after a run of five games without a win and amid pressure on Luxemburgo, who had been frequently booed by the fans before the match.
Luxemburgo, known for her resilient coaching style, acknowledged the challenging nature of her role at Corinthians and asked the fans to support the team in their quest for success in the Copa Sudamericana.
“I’m very happy and calm. I knew it would be a difficult job at Corinthians. If it wasn’t complicated, I wouldn’t have come. I have no problem with that” said Luxemburgo, emphasizing her willingness to meet the demanding expectations at the club.
The coach asked the fans to show their support for the players, saying:“You don’t have to hug me, but hug the team, the players, let’s work to make this a cauldron, a difficult situation for the opposition.”
Luxemburgo also highlighted the importance of the South American title, expressing the team’s focus on the competition. With the win, Corinthians climbed to tenth place in the standings.
We’re focused on that. The draw against Palmeiras was good, today’s win was also good. If it wasn’t for those points, we’d be in trouble,” Luxemburgo explained.
Corinthians will face Fortaleza in the semi-final of the Copa Sudamericana, followed by a derby against São Paulo in Morumbi. Luxemburgo praised the players for executing the strategy effectively against Botafogo and hopes that they will continue to be successful in the challenges ahead.
