Bayern-Manchester United – 4:3
Manchester United lost their third game in a row as they were beaten 4-3 by Bayern Munich. United had the initial chance when Christian Eriksen tested Sven Ulreich, but the German was alert. The hosts needed less than half an hour to open the scoring, when Sane cut in on to his left foot after a one-two with Kane, but his low shot went under Onana. Four minutes later, the hosts were already recovering when Gnabry was found expertly by Jamal Musiala and the latter buried the ball with his weaker left foot into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.
Bayern led 2-0 at half-time, but United pulled one back in the second half when Hojlund hit a shot that was deflected by Kim Min-jae, giving the visitors a glimmer of hope.
Eriksen was adjudged to have handled the ball inside his own penalty area, the VAR awarded Bayern the penalty and Dayot Upamecano’s header that actually hit Erisen showed the replays as Kane stepped forward to drive a dagger into the hearts of the United fans.
Bayern then hit the post, Sane was unlucky and Onana made two important interventions before Casemiro scored a low, powerful goal to make it 3-2. The Brazilian added his two goals seven minutes later, only after Tel had shot from close range to seal the three points.
The former Real Madrid player put in a commendable display by completing the entire game, but he couldn’t save the team.
Galatasaray – Copenhagen – 2:2
In the other Group A match, Copenhagen were 2-0 up after 58 minutes, with goals from Elyounoussi and Gonçalves. But the substitution of Brazilian Tete (in the 59th minute) “turned” the game. In the 86th minute, he provided an assist for Sacho Boey and, two minutes later, he scored Galatasaray’s equalizer himself – 2:2. Note that from the 73rd minute onwards, the Danes were in the minority after Jelert was sent off.
