Inter – Milan – 5:1
Inter Milan secured the title early with a resounding 5-1 win over AC Milan in the derby. Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s two goals were key to dismantling their rivals, adding to Inter’s impeccable performance at the start of the season.
With four games played, Inter now lead the standings with an impressive 12 points, without having conceded a goal in their first three matches. This puts them two points ahead of second-placed Juventus, who also put in a great performance with a 3-1 win over Lazio.
Mkhitaryan, Marcus Thuram, Hakan Calhanoglu and Davide Frattesi all contributed to Inter’s emphatic win, marking their fifth consecutive Milan derby triumph in all competitions – a historic achievement.
Juventus – Lazio – 3:1
Meanwhile, Juventus issued a stern warning to their Serie A rivals with an imposing 3-1 home win over Lazio. The winning goal came 10 minutes into the second half, when Manuel Locatelli’s precise cross found Vlahovic in the box. The Serbian striker surprised the defense with a fine first-time shot, giving Juve the lead. Vlahovic came close to doubling the lead with a close-range header shortly afterwards, but narrowly missed the target.
At the other end, Daichi Kamada forced Wojciech Szczesny into a brilliant reflex save, denying the Japan international the equalizer with a powerful volley. Despite the visitors’ best efforts, they struggled to get going in the first half.
Juve eventually extended their lead when Federico Chiesa scored his third goal of the season, beating goalkeeper Ivan Provedel with a well-placed shot to the far post. Lazio managed to halve the deficit in the second half, taking advantage of a Juve possession error that allowed Luis Alberto to shoot wide.
However, any hope of a comeback was quickly dashed when Vlahovic restored the two-goal lead. He skilfully controlled a long ball with his chest, created space against two defenders with a deft touch and fired a precise shot from the edge of the box.
