Jeremy Lin, the veteran NBA point guard known for his inspirational journey, made headlines again when he announced his future contract with the New Taipei Kings of Taiwan’s P. League+. Lin, who most recently demonstrated his skills with the Kaohsiung 17LIVE Steelers, for whom he played in 19 games starting in January, has definitely made an impact on the Taiwanese basketball scene. While playing for the team, he amassed remarkable records, averaging 26.3 points, 8.5 rebounds and 8.9 assists per game.
Lin, 35, has kept fans in suspense since he hinted at his intention to prolong his playing career in July. However, in a later post on Instagram, he declared: “After six weeks to process all of this, I’m ready to get back on the court and prepare for the 2024 season, wherever that may be”. It’s not about demonstrating anything to anyone, gaining influence or consolidating a legacy. What matters is having fun playing basketball and sharing the love of Jesus with others.”
Since 2019, Jeremy Lin has been competing abroad in an attempt to regain his job in the NBA. The 2018-19 NBA season was his last, starting with the Atlanta Hawks and ending with the Toronto Raptors, where he was part of the winning team.
Lin’s road to recovery will include a stay in 2021 with the Santa Cruz Warriors of the NBA G League. However, in May of the same year, he announced his retirement from the NBA, thus ending his career.
When Jeremy Lin stepped onto the court for the first time for the New York Knicks, his basketball career took off in dramatic fashion. In his first appearance, he orchestrated a spectacular win for the Knicks against the New Jersey Nets, contributing an incredible 25 points and also providing 7 assists. His exceptional display served as a mere prologue to the extraordinary events of February 2012, when he consistently produced astonishing numbers, averaging an impressive 28.8 points, 8.3 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game. During this exceptional period, Lin’s performance on the court took him to the pinnacle of global stardom and cemented his place in the hearts of basketball enthusiasts around the world.
However, his time with the Knicks was somewhat fleeting, marked by difficulties in reproducing his exceptional form after the All-Star break.
