Brazilian soccer powerhouse Palmeiras resumed their training routine on Monday morning at the Academia de Futebol after a well-deserved day off on Sunday. The team is now focused on the next match against Goiás, scheduled for this Friday at 9.30pm (Brasília time) at Allianz Parque. The match marks the 23rd round of the competitive Brazilian Championship.
Before taking to the field, coach Abel Ferreira called a meeting with the squad to discuss the team’s upcoming commitments this season. With just two games remaining in the Brasileirão before the first clash against Boca Juniors in the semi-final of the Conmebol Libertadores, the stakes are high and the team is leaving no stone unturned in its preparation.
On the training pitch, the players carried out technical exercises designed with specific objectives outlined by Abel Ferreira’s technical team. Meticulous planning and attention to detail are evident as they prepare for the challenges ahead.
In terms of player updates, Luis Guilherme and Atuesta continued their physical transition programs, both at the center of excellence and on the pitch. Meanwhile, striker Dudu took the first steps towards recovery, starting his first day of physiotherapy at the Health and Performance Center. Dudu’s journey towards rehabilitation follows surgery on his right knee, which involved reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament and repairs to the meniscus.
Coach Abel Ferreira is also dealing with the absence of four key players who have been called up to represent their national teams in the first two rounds of qualifying. The quartet includes Gustavo Gómez, who will wear the Paraguay shirt, Piquerez, representing Uruguay, Richard Ríos, from Colombia, and Raphael Veiga, who will proudly represent Brazil on the international stage.
In addition to the next match against Goiás, Palmeiras will face Grêmio on the 21st in the Brasileirão, preparing the ground for the eagerly awaited clash against Boca Juniors in Argentina in the semi-final of the Conmebol Libertadores. With these decisive matches on the horizon, Palmeiras remain committed to their quest for glory and their attempt to add more titles to their history.
