As the final of the Copa do Brasil draws closer, Flamengo are taking advantage of the FIFA World Cup break to focus on the recovery of their players. Two key players, Arrascaeta and Luiz Araújo, are undergoing intensive treatment for injuries to the biceps femoris of the left thigh, which raises concerns about their availability for the decisive match.
The injuries, which occurred on August 26, are classified between two and three in terms of severity. According to medical experts consulted by Lance!, the typical recovery period for these injuries ranges from 30 to 45 days. With just 21 days to go until the first leg of the Copa do Brasil final, the clock is ticking for them.
“Flamengo is not setting any deadlines, but we are doing everything we can to speed up their recovery,” said a team spokesman. “Both players are fundamental to our Copa do Brasil campaign and we hope they can play a part in the title decider.”
The team is also preparing for its next challenge, a match against Athletico-PR in the 23rd round of the Brazilian Championship. The match is scheduled for September 13 at 9:30 pm (Brasília time) at the Kleber Andrade Stadium in Cariacica.
Although the team is optimistic, it is not yet known whether Arrascaeta and Luiz Araújo will be fit for the first leg of the final at the Maracanã or if they will only be available for the second leg. “It’s too early to make any predictions, but we’re hopeful,” added the spokesman.
As Flamengo continue their pursuit of the season’s goals, the recovery of Arrascaeta and Luiz Araújo remains the top priority. Their presence or absence could well tip the balance in what promises to be an electrifying Copa do Brasil final.
