Middleweight fighters Khamzat Chimaev and Paulo Costa could face each other in a highly anticipated co-main event for the UFC’s return to Abu Dhabi later this year. The news was given by former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen during his appearance on The MMA Hour.
During the interview, Sonnen discussed the situation of the middleweight division after Israel Adesanya’s victory over Alex Pereira in the main fight of UFC 287. He said that Chimaev would face Costa, and that the two fighters are already scheduled to meet in Abu Dhabi.
