Luis Suárez, the top scorer, along with the experienced Marcelo and the young prodigy Endrick, won the prestigious title of Campeonato Estadual do Brasil at the weekend thanks to their impressive performances in the finals, where they all scored.
In the final of the Rio Grande do Sul championship, Grêmio’s Luis Suárez scored from the penalty spot in the 65th minute to secure a 1-0 win over Caxias and help his team lift the trophy.
Marcelo returned to Fluminense, the club where it all began for him in 2005, and marked the occasion with a stunning strike from the edge of the box in the 30th minute, opening the scoring for his team.
Striker Cano increased the lead with goals in the 34th and 56th minutes to put Fluminense ahead, and Alexandre added another in the 65th minute to bring the final score to 4-0. In the final moments of the match, Ayrton Lucas scored Flamengo’s only goal, hitting the net in added time.
Palmeiras beat Água Santa 4-0 in the second leg of the Championship. Endrick, a 16-year-old striker recently signed from Real Madrid, scored the third goal of the match, while Gabriel Menino scored in the 15th and 27th minutes. Endrick’s goal in the 34th minute sealed Palmeiras’ lead.
Jose Lopez scored the fourth and final goal of the match in the 73rd minute. In the first leg, Água Santa won 2-1, with Endrick scoring for Palmeiras.
With the top flight starting next weekend, Palmeiras will be aiming to defend their title.
