Real Madrid are trying to thwart Paris Saint-Germain’s deal for AC Milan star Rafael Leão.
To do so, they are considering allowing the Italians to keep Brahim Diaz, who is currently with the Italian side on loan.
According to El Nacional, the La Liga giants are willing to offer Diaz in exchange for Leão, who is also a target for PSG. Leao and Diaz scored during Milan’s recent 4-0 win over league leaders Napoli.
Diaz joined Real Madrid as a free agent after his contract with Manchester City expired, but he didn’t get many chances to shine and was loaned out to AC Milan. During his time with the Italian champions, Diaz impressed the club and they want to sign the Spaniard on a permanent basis.
The La Liga giants would allow AC Milan to keep Diaz, however, they would ask for Leao in return, who has been in sublime form and has generated interest from all over Europe. The Portuguese sensation has scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists for his current club in all competitions this season.
This stunning form has earned Leao many admirers, including PSG, who are reportedly preparing for life after Lionel Messi and Neymar eventually leave the Parc des Princes this summer.
Real Madrid, however, are trying to thwart the deal by offering Milan Diaz on a permanent basis. According to reports, Leão is currently valued at 80 million pounds, and his current contract runs until 2024 with the Italian giants.
Having missed out on signing Kylian Mbappé, the relationship between PSG and Real Madrid has soured considerably, and if they enter the race for Rafael Leão, it could complicate things even further for the Parisians. Meanwhile, both clubs played at home on Saturday night, as Carlo Ancelotti’s men suffered a 3-2 defeat against Villarreal, while Christophe Galtier’s side claimed a 2-0 win over Nice.
