Man City – Fulham – 5:1
The reigning English champions beat Fulham. Note that the hosts only had five shots on target, but all five resulted in goals. That’s productivity.
Early in the game, Kyle Walker played a clever through ball to Mateo Kovacic, who laid it into Haaland’s path, before the Norwegian picked out Alvarez to open the scoring for the Cityzens. However, Fulham responded in kind with a set-piece when Andreas Pereira’s corner found Raul Jimenez, whose mis-hit shot fell kindly to Tim Ream to equalize. Manchester City then scored from a corner taken by Nathan Ake, who headed the ball into the back of the net.
In the second half, Haaland would be delighted with a series of goals. Alvarez’s clever touch led to a pass from Rodri through the Fulham defense, and Haaland took advantage to score. Alvarez’s delightful play continued when he conceded a penalty from Issa Diop, which the Norwegian fired into the net. To crown the dominant victory, a fantastic piece of skill from defender Sergio Gomez frustrated the Fulham defense, with the Spaniard sending a pass to Haaland, completing his hat-trick and the 5-1 win. The nine-time Premier League champions have won four matches in four rounds.
It wasn’t the most productive night for the Brazilian players, as Ederson, the Seleção’s best player on the day, made three great saves. Meanwhile, for Fulham, Andreas Pereira played a part in creating his side’s only goal, while veteran Willian and youngster Rodrigo Muniz acted as substitutes.
Chelsea – Nottingham Forest – 0:1
Chelsea lost at Stamford Bridge. The hosts often threatened their opponents’ goal, but it didn’t pay off. Sterling could have opened the scoring in the second minute, but he didn’t have the necessary composure to take his chance and his attempt was blocked.
Forest kept trying to beat Chelsea on the counter-attack and came close to scoring a couple of times. But it was Nicholas Jackson who wasted the most. The Senegalese striker missed two great chances. To Chelsea’s disappointment, former Manchester United striker Anthony Elanga scored his first goal for his new team early in the second half, taking advantage of Awoniyi’s clever pass.
Brazilian veteran Thiago Silva was his team’s only positive, with an impeccable 96 passing percentage. The striker also made 14 passes into the final third, but was not rewarded. Forest started with young striker Danilo injured and he was replaced in the 45th minute by Elanga.
Luton Town – West Ham – 1:2
Lucas Paquet ‘s side won away from home. The Brazilian started and played 91 minutes. It was he who provided the assist in the 37th minute, when he headed Bowen in to open the scoring – 1-0. Note that his teammate Emerson’s goal was disallowed in the 51st minute, but in the 85th minute Zouma added to West Ham’s lead. After a corner, the Frenchman’s header bounced off the post – 2-0. The hosts managed to score a prestigious goal in injury time.
Burnley – Tottenham – 2:5
Tottenham conceded a goal four minutes into the first half, but managed to score twice before the break. And from the 54th to the 66th minute, he troubled the visiting goalkeeper three more times. Brazilians Richarlison (72 min) and Emerson Royal (86 min) came on as substitutes when the score was 5:1. Both were not memorable. The former failed to improve their game in attack, and the latter failed to accommodate Brownhill in defence – 5:2.
Brentford – Bournemouth – 2:2
It wasn’t Brazilian goalkeeper Neto‘s best match. Yes, he made five saves to save Bournemouth from a big defeat. But it was after a foul by the goalkeeper seven minutes into the first half that a free kick was awarded, with which the hosts opened the scoring. The visitors managed to respond with two goals in the 77th minute, but missed out on victory in the 93rd minute – Neto didn’t help. Incidentally, the Brentford players hit the post twice during the game.
Brighton – Newcastle – 3:1
Evan Ferguson scored three goals in that game, in the 27th, 65th and 70th minutes. In the 92nd minute, Callam Wilson responded with a prestigious goal. Incidentally, he replaced the Brazilian Joelinton, who didn’t show anything constructive in the match. His Newcastle teammate Guimarães, who played the full 90 minutes, also disappointed the fans. João Pedro played 77 minutes for Brighton.
