Roma – Milan – 1:2
José Mourinho’s Roma conceded an early goal. In the 6th minute, Rui Patricio touched Loftus-Cheek’s leg. After the VAR review, the referee awarded the penalty. Olivier Giroud scored his fourth goal in three Serie A games this season from the penalty spot.
After the restart, in the 48th minute, Rafael Leão produced one of his characteristic moments of magic: the Portuguese full-back lost his balance, but somehow managed to stretch out his leg and volley the ball into the back of the net. The ball bounced off the post – 2-0. It was a splendid cross from Davide Calabria, but Léo showed great athletic ability.
Fikayo Tomori had already received a yellow card for a rash tackle and, in the 61st minute, Milan were still in the minority. He received a second yellow when he hit Belotti under the knee. Note that in the 71st minute, Lukaku made his debut for the Romans.
In the 92nd minute, Spinazzola gave Roma hope. After his shot, the ball bounced off Kalulu’s leg and past Maignan – 1-2! The referee gave six more minutes of added time and, in the 95th minute, the hosts could have salvaged a draw. Maignan made a mistake with the ball, the ball flew to the far post, but the opponent headed the ball into the unprotected corner of the goal.
After three games, Milan are in the lead with 100% – 9 points. Roma, with 1 point, are in 18th place out of 20
Borussia Dortmund – Heindenheim – 2:2
In Germany, Dortmund hosted Heindenheim at the Westfalen Stadion, and the hosts went ahead seven minutes after the restart with an emphatic half-volley from Julian Brandt. Brandt helped his side win a penalty for a handball inside the Heindenheim area, and Emre Can converted to double his side’s lead after 15 minutes.
Eren Dinkci gave the visiting fans a glimmer of hope when he reduced the deficit in the 61st minute. And nine minutes before the end of regulation time, the turnaround was achieved. Sebastian Haller broke the rules and Tim Kleindienst converted the penalty – 2:2.
The referee added 12 minutes to the regulation time. Almost before the final whistle, Felix Nmecha could have given Dortmund the win, but he hit the crossbar. As a result, the home side managed to turn the game around and claim their first point in the top flight, while the hosts dropped to sixth place in the Bundesliga standings.
