In a story of youthful ambition and footballing dreams, Danilo, at just 24 years old, has his sights set on the prestigious Champions League stage. Inspired by the outstanding performances of his compatriots on the European platform, the Brazilian striker aspires to make his own way in the competition. After coming on as a substitute in the first leg against PSV, Danilo is eager to secure a starting place in the second leg at Philips Stadium, a place where he has already scored during his time at Feyenoord.
For Danilo, if Rangers win this crucial game and secure a place in the Champions League group stage, it will be an incredible achievement. Although he has already made his family and country proud by turning professional, the opportunity to share the pitch with his idols and reach the coveted group stage would undoubtedly be the realization of a lifelong dream.
Expressing his passion for the Champions League, Danilo shares: “The Champions League means a lot to me. It’s a dream I’ve had since my early years. The first leg at Ibrox marked my first appearance in the Champions League as a player on the pitch. Before that, I had only played on the bench at Ajax. I am totally committed to pursuing this lifelong dream that has fueled my journey since I was very young.“
The Champions League exerts a magnetic attraction on countless young Brazilian players, serving as both a beacon of aspiration and a source of motivation. The mere sound of the Champions League anthem sends shivers down the spine and ignites a wave of adrenaline, embodying the greatness of the competition that has inspired a generation.
Danilo’s story sums up the enduring magic of soccer – a journey that goes from watching the Champions League on screen to being on the brink of taking part in it. Remember that the São Paulo native took his first steps in soccer with youth teams: Portuguesa Desportos, Corinthians, Ponte Preta, Vasco da Gama and Santos. At the age of 17, he signed for Ajax Amsterdam and moved to the Netherlands. There, the striker played for Jong Ajax, Twente and Feyenoord and, a month ago, moved to Rangers in Scotland, signing a five-year contract.
