Augusto Melo, a leading opposition candidate for the presidency of Corinthians, has expressed concern about the club’s player-selling practices under the current administration. He believes that the team’s approach to this has not maximized profits and has failed to harness the potential of the talents produced by the club’s youth teams.
Melo, in discussing his candidacy, pointed out the perceived flaws in the administration’s approach to player transfers, stating: “The most serious mistake of this administration is the soccer team. Bad signings, bad sales. We’re training players for our opponents“.
In response to a question from commentator Emerson Sheik, Melo emphasized his intention to increase investment in the soccer team, with the aim of solving the problems he perceives in player management and the use of talent.
The next presidential election, scheduled for November, will determine the new leader of Corinthians. So far, there are two confirmed candidates: André Luiz Oliveira, who represents the current situation, and Augusto Melo, who defends the opposition’s perspective.
The election has significant importance for Corinthians’ future trajectory, as the result will influence the direction the club takes in terms of player development, transfers and general management strategies. While the candidates describe their visions for the club’s future, the fans await the decision that will shape Corinthians’ journey over the next few years.
