The hosts didn’t give up; on the contrary, they intensified their dominance throughout the match. Sterling once again demonstrated his skill in the 68th minute, when he timed his run perfectly to receive a precise cross from Malo Gusto, deftly guiding the ball into the net and solidifying Chelsea’s lead.
Luton Town’s difficulties were far from over, as there was another sparkling moment in the 75th minute. Nicolas Jackson, the Senegalese striker, showed his predatory instincts by positioning himself expertly on the back line. A cross from Sterling found Jackson, who calmly tapped the ball into the net, securing his first goal for the club and adding to Luton’s woes.
The visitors managed to create just one moment of danger throughout the game. In the 61st minute, Robert Sanchesm saved a shot from Ryan Giles.
This achievement marked Pochettino’s first competitive win since his appointment as Chelsea manager at the start of the summer, breaking his initial run of two games without a win in the Premier League. Brazilian defender Thiago Silva spent the entire match on the pitch.
