Jude Bellingham continued his excellent start to life in Real Madrid colors, with the Englishman scoring twice and providing an assist for Vinicius Junior to help Real Madrid record a 3-1 comeback victory over Almería. Carlo Ancelotti’s side traveled to the Mediterranean Stadium on Saturday night hoping to continue their winning streak in La Liga.
It’s interesting to note that Almeria are the second club to have spent the most in the transfer market this summer, behind Madrid in the Spanish top flight.
However, Real Madrid were surprised by a goal from Sergio Arribas, a graduate of the Fabrica academy, who opened the scoring after just three minutes. In his second game for Almeria, the Spaniard scored a header, beating Andriy Lunin at the back post to give the hosts the perfect start.
Aurelien Tchouameni had an attempted header saved by Luis Maximiano, before Bellingham brought his side back into the tie. Dani Carvajal’s floating cross was met by Federico Valverde, the ball hit Bellingham, who turned and finished to score his second goal in as many games. The VAR checked for a controversial offside, but the goal stood.
Shortly afterwards, Brazilian full-back Rodrygo hit a shot that went just wide of the post. Toni Kroos had a wonderful goal disallowed after the VAR ruled that Carjaval had committed a foul before Kroos scored.
In the last ten minutes of the first half, Almeria could have scored three or four goals, but Lunin saved them after a mistake by the defenders. Immediately after the break, the hosts continued to create chances, but in the 60th minute, Bellingham scored twice, latching onto a long-range pass from Kroos. The Englishman headed the ball backwards, putting Madrid ahead.
Jude scored three goals in two games and then provided the assist for Brazilian full-back Vini Jr. The youngster chipped the ball over Maximiano and scored his first goal of the season. Carvajal had a chance to score early on, but his shot was saved by the Almeria goalkeeper.
Rodrygo had a somewhat subdued game and was substituted in the 72nd minute, while his countryman Vinicius was a lively player and played for 90 minutes before being replaced. Brazilian Lazaro played 92 minutes for the hosts, while another Brazilian, Kaiki, was left on the bench.
