Brazilian superstar Neymar seems to be the closest player to leaving Paris Saint-Germain in years. The most expensive player of all time has been trying to get away from the French capital for many years, but things have never worked out. Now, however, according to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, PSG and Neymar’s representatives are ready to go their separate ways.
According to a tweet from Romano, the Brazilian striker has decided to leave the Parc des Princes and the club is also keen to let him go. Both parties are working to find a solution as quickly as possible, as the 31-year-old reportedly has offers from Saudi Professional League club Al Hilal as well as Major League Soccer clubs.
Al Hilal had already tried to sign Lionel Messi after his contract with PSG expired, but the Argentine chose to ignore the Saudi League and went to the USA to join Inter Miami, whose partner is former Real Madrid legend David Beckham. Barcelona were also keen to sign Messi, but their financial situation didn’t allow them to complete the meeting. However, a reunion between Messi and Neymar in the United States could be just around the corner.
Barcelona coach Xavi had already said that the club had other priorities and didn’t want to sign Neymar, but since Ousmane Dembele has agreed to go the other way, the Brazilian could yet be reunited with Barça.
However, it will be a very complicated negotiation, as the Catalan team is still in financial crisis and PSG will demand some kind of fee, which Al Hilal will pay without much fuss, but the Spanish club will not be able to pay for Neymar.
So the former Santos striker’s future remains uncertain for the time being, but one thing is certain: he is about to leave PSG. Just a few weeks ago, the Brazilian had said that he would stay in Paris “with or without” the love of the fans, but his opinion has changed since then.
In addition, Liverpool are on the verge of breaking the English transfer record as they have agreed a £110 million package with Brighton and Hove Albion for Moises Caicedo. The Ecuadorian was on Chelsea’s radar, but Chelsea failed to reach an agreement, however Jurgen Klopp’s side took control of the deal.
On Thursday night, Liverpool made an offer of 110 million pounds to Brighton, which was immediately accepted by the club, who wanted to sell Caicedo to the highest bidder, and Chelsea made an offer of 100 million pounds, but as Liverpool’s offer was better, it was accepted.
Liverpool manager Klopp appeared before the press and confirmed that the two clubs had reached an agreement over the fee, but the medical has not yet been completed.
“I’ve been told that I can confirm that the deal for Moisés Caicedo has been agreed with the club. We’ll have to see about the player. Medical exam today? I can’t tell you, I don’t know. We tried and the club really tried to be honest” said the German.
Caicedo was really looking to force through a transfer after allegedly collecting all his belongings from his locker at Brighton and, although it looked like he would be a Chelsea player before the end of the transfer window, Liverpool turned the deal around.
The Blues, on the other hand, went ahead and made an offer for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia, who Liverpool had been pursuing previously.
