One of the biggest sagas of the summer transfer window is finally nearing its conclusion, as Bayern Munich have signed Tottenham striker Harry Kane.
It has been reported that the two clubs have reached an agreement over a fee of more than 100 million euros, with the 30-year-old keen to join the Bavarian giants. Previously, several reports claimed that Kane would prefer to leave Spurs only if the team managed to reach an agreement with Bayern before the start of the Premier League season.
The England captain is set to become a free agent next summer, but before he leaves, he seems to have received a nice parting gift from his beloved club. Kane is Spurs’ all-time leading scorer, having netted 280 goals in 435 games, but with the north London club’s failure to win titles, he is determined to move to Bayern.
Previously, Manchester United were also linked with the striker, but the Englishman preferred to move to Germany and United signed Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta instead.
Thomas Tuchel’s side had several offers turned down by Spurs, with chairman Daniel Levy managing to keep Kane at the club amid interest from Manchester City in 2021. According to reports, the Spurs chairman was not willing to negotiate transfers with other Premier League teams, but agreed to hold talks with Bayern, as this would strengthen one of their direct rivals.
England’s all-time leading scorer has never won a single trophy, either with his club or his country, but Bayern are perennial winners when it comes to domestic titles and will be one of the main contenders for the Champions League title when Kane is signed.
The talismanic striker has scored 213 times in England’s top flight and is just 48 goals short of Alan Shearer’s record for all-time top scorer in the Premier League, but it seems Harry has made up his mind. He also won the golden boot three times and would further improve Bayern’s front line.
