However, São Paulo FC responded quickly, equalizing in the 55th minute, albeit in an unfortunate way. A shot deflected off Corinthians goalkeeper Cássio and ended up in the back of the net, resulting in an own goal. The score was now level at 1-1, and it was anyone’s game.
As the tension grew, both teams searched for the decisive goal. In the 81st minute, Renato Augusto was once again the hero for Corinthians, scoring his second goal of the match. The midfielder showed his class by seizing an opportunity to put Corinthians 2-1 ahead.
