Manchester United have agreed to extend Marcus Rashford’s contract as the England international is set to extend his stay at the Old Trafford club until 2028. Rashford has signed a highly lucrative contract that will see his salary rocket to £325,000 a week.
After an impressive campaign under Erik ten Hag, during which the 25-year-old scored 30 goals in 56 appearances in all competitions, United began talks about an extension to his previous contract, which was due to expire in 2024.
A product of Manchester United’s famous academy, Rashford has scored 123 goals for the team in 359 appearances since his debut in 2016 against Midtjylland.
Speaking about his contract extension, the youngster said he hopes to win many more trophies with the club, after winning the Carabao Cup last year.
“I joined Manchester United as a seven-year-old with a dream. That same passion, pride and determination to win still drives me every time I have the honor of wearing the shirt” said Rashford.
He added:“I’ve already had some incredible experiences at this amazing club, but there’s still so much more to be achieved and I remain relentlessly determined to win more trophies in the years to come.”
Despite receiving offers from other Premier League clubs and clubs abroad, Rashford decided to turn down even more lucrative deals in order to maintain his commitment to United.
The youngster said that he thinks the club is on the right track under Ten Hag and that he is excited about the club’s future.
“I can guarantee that I’ll give my all to help the team reach the level we’re capable of, and I can feel the same determination in the dressing room. I couldn’t be more excited about the future under this coach” said Rashford.
After two difficult seasons since 2020, when Rashford suffered abuse after missing a penalty in the Euro 2020 final against Italy, followed by an injury-plagued 2021, the England international has found his way into goal under Ten Hag, leading Manchester United’s front line.
