Crystal Palace have entered the race to sign young Flamengo midfielder Matheus França, competing with Chelsea’s long-standing interest in the talented player. According to reports, Crystal Palace recently tabled an offer of 15 million euros for the 19-year-old, signaling their determination to secure his services.
Although Flamengo are in no hurry to sell França, they understand the difficulty of keeping him at the club when several others are vying to sign him. However, the Rio de Janeiro-based club is expecting a higher figure, with expectations around 25 million euros, including possible add-ons and bonuses.
Chelsea had already expressed their interest in França, having approached Flamengo in January with an offer that was ultimately rejected. Now Crystal Palace have emerged as possible suitors, with Botafogo owner John Textor, who is also co-owner of the London club, reportedly interested in bringing France to England. The young midfielder has shown his skills this season, contributing three goals and an assist in 28 appearances.
The competition for France’s signature intensified when Crystal Palace’s offer was joined by Chelsea’s pursuit. It is not yet known how Flamengo will conduct the negotiations and whether they will consider the possibility of a sale. França’s possible transfer could represent a significant change in his promising career, offering him the opportunity to make an impact in English soccer, should the deal go through with Crystal Palace or Chelsea.
