Fulham manager Marco Silva is weighing up his options, despite the Cottagers having offered him a new contract. Silva has already rejected offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia, but with only around a year left on his current contract at Fulham, the fact that he is stalling with his current employers is an interesting development, perhaps signaling an intention to land a bigger club in the near future. Silva was incredibly successful at Fulham, winning the league in impressive fashion in the 2021/22 season to earn promotion to the Premier League. In an impressive first campaign for Fulham in the top flight, they managed to finish in the top half of the table, finishing tenth, above the likes of Crystal Palace and Chelsea.
However, although Silva has not agreed to sign a new contract, the Portuguese coach is said to be in no hurry to leave Fulham and is actively participating in the intense activities of the transfer market. Silva is currently negotiating Willian’s return to the club and is believed to be involved in the Cottagers’ pursuit of Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi.
“Marco Silva, like any other great coach, has very high standards. He wants the best for his club. Perhaps it’s fair to say that he expected more progress in signings at this stage of the summer as far as Fulham were concerned, as the club hasn’t made any major signings so far. But there are two sides to every story.
I’m sure Fulham would hint that the transfer window is still open for quite some time. They are also trying to bring Willian back. But Marco Silva is a very successful coach. He’s saying he wants to kick on again and build on last season’s success. Still, at the moment, he is not signing the new contract that is being presented to him” said senior journalist Kaveh Solhekol.
Meanwhile, he is also in the process of convincing Serbian center forward Aleksandar Mitrovic to stay at the club, after a lucrative offer from Al-Hilal attracted his number nine. Fulham continue to insist that Mitrovic is not for sale this summer, but it has been reported that the striker himself has asked the board to let him leave the club.
