Palmeiras have reportedly rejected potential offers of around €15 million for midfielder Raphael Veiga, signaling their intention to keep the talented Brazilian. European clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Fulham and Wolverhampton, have inquired about Veiga’s availability, but Palmeiras president Leila Pereira is determined to keep him at the club. With Veiga’s contract running until December 2026, the club sees him as a key player and hopes he will continue to be an integral part of Abel Ferreira’s team.
The 28-year-old has been playing for his hometown club since 2017. Veiga’s excellent performances this season, with 11 goals and nine assists in 29 games, have further solidified his importance to Palmeiras. Selling him at this stage would not only weaken the team, but also risk a backlash from the fans. Fans have already expressed their dissatisfaction with the lack of activity in the previous transfer window and criticized Pereira for his spending priorities, such as the purchase of an airplane.
While Palmeiras continue to compete in the Brasileirão and Libertadores, keeping Veiga is seen as a priority for the club. The loss of one of their best players could further aggravate the already tense relationship between the fans and the club’s management. Thus, Palmeiras remains firm in its decision to keep Veiga, guaranteeing stability and continuity in the quest for success.
