Marc Stein (NBA insider) claims that Bol Bol, former Orlando Magic point guard, could be a target for the Phoenix Suns during the upcoming NBA free agency season. The Suns have shown interest in Bol, who had his restrictions lifted on Thursday, making him available to potential bidders, according to Stein.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Phoenix Suns have just traded forward Isaiah Todd to the Memphis Grizzlies to increase their offer of second-round picks. This move created space on the Suns’ roster for possible acquisitions.
According to Stein, Bol Bol, who measures an impressive 2.19m, was not claimed on waivers, despite his acceptable salary of $2.2 million. The skilled player, who battled injuries throughout his three seasons with the Denver Nuggets, had a standout season in 2022-23. In 70 games, Bol averaged 9.1 points and 5.8 rebounds, demonstrating his talent and skill on the court.
John Gambadoro of 98.7 FM Arizona Sports Phoenix said he wouldn’t be shocked if the Suns tried to sign Bol in free agency. Bol’s college career at Oregon was interrupted by foot surgery, which limited him to just nine NCAA games in 2018-19. Despite being predicted as a top five pick and having an impressive 2.13m wingspan at the NBA Combine, Bol was selected 44th overall in the 2019 draft.
Bol’s playing time with the Denver Nuggets was restricted to just 53 games over three seasons. His prolonged absences from the G League and the NBA were attributed to “injury management” following his college surgery. Bol underwent another operation on his foot in January 2022.
However, the 2022-23 season proved to be a watershed for the player, as he had a strong campaign. Bol, who started the season as a starter for the Orlando Magic, continued to captivate fans, even as his playing time decreased over the course of the season. ESPN’s Zach Lowe praised him as a fascinating player to watch because of his rare blend of height, quickness and court skills.
The Phoenix Suns, who have just overhauled their squad with a focus on older players, could see Bol as a significant investment in their attacking depth.
