América-MG secured a 1-0 win over Corinthians in the first leg of their Copa do Brasil quarter-final. Juninho’s goal in the first half was the decisive moment of the match. Despite creating several chances in the second half, Corinthians were unable to score due to the excellent performance of América-MG goalkeeper Mateus Pasinato. In the 81st minute, the visitors managed to shake off defeat. Roger Guedes shot from outside the area into the left corner of the goal, but hit the post. The result puts pressure on coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo, who is trying to reverse the situation in the second leg and is also fighting to escape the relegation zone in the Brazilian Championship.
