Inter – Fiorentina – 4:0
Three months ago, the teams played in the final of the Italian Cup. After conceding the first goal, Inter won 2-1. This time, everything was easier. In a standout performance, Marcus Thuram scored his first Serie A goal for Inter Milan and played a crucial role in the 4-0 win over Fiorentina at the San Siro.
Thuram, who joined Inter from Borussia Mönchengladbach, showed his talent by scoring a header (24 mins) and assisting Lautaro Martinez’s goal (53 mins) and Hakan Calhanoglu’s penalty (58 mins). Lautaro Martinez further extended his impressive form, securing a league-leading five goals this season.
Brazilian Carlos Augusto came on in the 70th minute for Inter. As for Fiorentina, midfielder Authur left the field in the 75th minute, while right-back Dodo completed the 90 minutes.
The win extended Inter’s perfect start to the season, making them one of only two teams, alongside AC Milan, to win all three of their games so far.
With three consecutive games without conceding and three wins in a row (8-0 goal difference), Inter’s start to the season hadn’t been this impressive since 1966. The next Milan derby, on September 16 after the international break, promises to be an exciting clash as both Milan clubs look to maintain their winning streaks.
