Iniesta was a pioneer who made an indestructible impression on the world soccer scene during the peak of his career. His important involvement in big teams such as Barcelona and Spain has earned him an impressive collection of championships, as well as changing the beautiful game.
Iniesta began his career in Barcelona’s youth team and won 32 trophies during his time at the club. He was also a key figure in Spain’s historic victories at Euro 2008, the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012.
Iniesta’s departure from Barcelona in 2018 did not, however, mark the end of his incredible adventure. It was just the beginning of a new chapter in a completely different part of the world. After his time in Spain, Iniesta signed for Japanese side Vissel Kobe, where he enjoyed some success over the next five years. However, as his playing time in Japan decreased this year, he was looking forward to new challenges.
Faced with international interest, including offers from Major League Soccer (MLS), Iniesta opted to sign a one-year contract with the Emirates Club in the United Arab Emirates.
“When I left Japan, I had several options,” said Iniesta, “and, in the end, you decide what is in line with your beliefs and what is best for you and your family. The local soccer culture has a lot of room for development, and I’m excited to use my knowledge to help improve the sport locally. I’m very happy to be here and grateful for the kind welcome. “
As Iniesta begins this new chapter, it’s important to note that his one-year contract provides for possible extensions, although his main emphasis at the moment is on enjoying the current season. As well as adjusting to their new surroundings, Iniesta’s family is quickly adapting to life in Ras Al Khaimah, their new home. Iniesta made an immediate impact as a starter for his new team, converting a penalty in the thrilling 4-4 draw with Ajman Club. In his previous match, he contributed to the 1-0 win on August 19.
