In the opening round of qualifying for the US Open, Brazilian Felipe Alves showed his determination by beating Czech Dalibor Svrcina. Alves secured a hard-fought victory, recovering from a set down to win 2-6, 6-2 and 6-3.
Alves performed well, firing seven aces and maintaining a consistent 63% first serve percentage. He showed his resilience by winning 69% of points on his first serve and 55% on his second serve. Both players had their share of break point opportunities, with Alves converting 4 out of 9 chances, while Svrcina took 3 out of 11. The Brazilian also showed his prowess in receiving points, winning 29 against Svrcina’s 33.
In terms of total points won, Alves accumulated 82, slightly beating Svrcina’s 76. Alves secured 14 games during the match, including an impressive run of five consecutive games won. He also won 53 service points and won 10 service games.
Brazilian 14th seed Thiago Monteiro faced a challenging battle against Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the opening round of US Open qualifying. In a very tight match, Perricard emerged victorious with a score of 6-7, 7-6, 7-6.
Monteiro demonstrated his prowess on serve by firing eight aces, as well as committing three double faults. He demonstrated exceptional accuracy with a remarkable 96% first serve percentage, contributing to a solid 75% win rate on his first serve. Despite their best efforts, both players failed to convert any break points. Perricard showed his dominance in tiebreaks, winning two out of three. Meanwhile, Brazil’s Thiago Seyboth Wild , seeded ninth, showed his determination in a tight contest against Dimitar Kuzmanov of Bulgaria in the opening round of US Open qualifying. Seyboth Wild secured victory with a score of 7-6, 6-7 and 6-4.
Seyboth Wild’s performance was marked by his powerful serve, with 13 aces and three double faults. He had a respectable first serve percentage of 58% and achieved an impressive win rate of 76% on his first serve. Both players had their share of break point opportunities, with Seyboth Wild converting 2 out of 5, while Kuzmanov managed 1 out of 5. The Brazilian player also showed his ability to receive points, securing 33 against 35 for Kuzmanov.
In terms of total points won, Seyboth Wild amassed 117, slightly beating Kuzmanov’s 111. He won 19 games, including a run of three consecutive games won. Seyboth Wild’s strong service game, combined with effective use of break point chances, led him to a well-deserved victory.

In the first women’s round of qualifying for the US Open, Slovenia’s Kaja Juvan won convincingly against 29th-ranked Laura Pigossi. Juvan’s performance was marked by his strategic play and determination, resulting in a final score of 7-6, 6-2.
Juvan showed his skills on the court, putting in a complete performance. She managed a single ace while committing two double faults. His first serve percentage was 66%, with a commendable win rate of 68% on his first serves. Juvan showed resilience on his second serve, securing a win rate of 58%. Both players had their chances on break points, with Juvan converting 5 out of 9, while Pigossi managed 3 out of 6. Juvan’s prowess at receiving points was evident, as she scored 36 compared to Pigossi’s 23.
Juvan dominated the total points won, amassing 75 points to Pigossi’s 54. She won 13 games, including a run of four consecutive games. Juvan’s strong service game contributed significantly to her triumph, securing 39 service points and winning 7 service games.
