Al-Hilal – Al-Nasr – 1:2
Legendary Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo continues to make headlines, most recently scoring twice in Al-Nassr’s win over rivals Al-Hilal. Ronaldo’s performance, which took place in the decisive match of the final of the Arab Clubs’ Champions Cup, secured yet another trophy for the star in the final chapter of his illustrious career. Interestingly, former Flamengo star Michel scored the first goal of the final to put Al-Hilal ahead. Ronaldo scored two goals to give his team the decisive lead before suffering an injury that could put him out of action until at least the next game.
Brazilians Malcom and Mikael played for Al-Hilal, and well-known European players Koulibaly, Neves and Milinkovic-Savic. For Al-Nasr, in addition to Ronaldo, Brazilians Telles and Talisca, as well as European stars Mane, Brozovic and Seko Fofana, made the starting line-up.
At the start of the second half, Malcolm provided an assist for Makael – 1-0. In the 71st minute, Al-Nasr were in the minority after Al Amri was sent off – 71. But in the 74th minute, Ronaldo equalized, taking advantage of a well-placed cross from inside the area – 1:1. Regulation time ended in a draw and, in the 98th minute of extra time, Ronaldo seized the momentum after recovering from the post, hitting a decisive header and scoring the winner.
The Portuguese became the tournament’s top scorer with six goals. This achievement marks the end of a two-season drought for the Portuguese star, who won his first title during this period.
Following their victory in the Arab Clubs’ Champions Cup, Al Nassr’s focus now turns to the league season, in which they have yet to play their first match. Next Monday, the team will face Al-Ettifaq in the season opener.
