Manchester City beat Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup
and Pep Guardiola’s side are now ready to pursue two of their transfer targets after winning another trophy following last season’s triple crown. City are expected to submit a new bid for West Ham United’s Brazilian midfielder Lucas Paquetá and are also likely to seek a deal for Rennes winger Jeremy Doku.
According to reports, the Belgian winger and the Brazilian midfielder have already agreed terms with the Sky Blues, and all that remains for the Premier League giants is to reach an agreement with the two players’ respective clubs.
The Cityzens are also preparing to sanction the sale of Aymeric Laporte to Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr. City have accepted the Saudi club’s offer and are waiting for the final green light from the Spaniard for the transfer to be completed.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are close to completing the signing of Wataru Endo from Stuttgart, after missing out on their main targets, Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia. Both players decided to go to Chelsea, although Liverpool had already agreed a fee with Brighton Hove Albion and Southampton respectively.
Ultimately, however, Liverpool turned their attention to Endo, who immediately said yes. The 30-year-old has already had his medical and hopes to solve Jurgen Klopp’s number 6 dilemma.
Chelsea suffered a blow in the window after one of their main targets, Michael Olise, decided to ignore interest from Stamford Bridge and extend his stay at Crystal Palace by signing a new four-year contract.
Benjamin Pavard has decided to leave Bayern Munich, and the Frenchman is looking for a new challenge. Inter Milan have the player on their wish list and negotiations are expected to continue, while Arsenal could also be a potential destination after Jurrien Timber suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury and will be sidelined for a few months.
Speaking about Timber’s replacement, Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta said: “We have to evaluate now, because we’re always open to reacting if something happens. This doesn’t just happen with injuries, but also with the market. That’s why we signed Raya, we need two top players in each position.“
