Bragantino beat Corinthians 1-0 and Timão stay close to the relegation zone
Corinthians suffered another setback in the Brasileirão when they were beaten 1-0 by Bragantino at the Arena Neo Química. In the match, Eduardo Sasha scored Bragantino’s winning goal in the first half, taking advantage of his dominance of possession and pressing tactics. Despite occasional flashes of brilliance from Corinthians, including a chance from youngster Biro, the team failed to score. Both teams made changes at half-time and Bragantino almost extended their lead at the start of the second half. Although Corinthians showed an improvement later on, Roger Guedes missed the decisive chance to equalize with a shot against the post in the 77th minute. The defeat keeps Corinthians just one point above the relegation zone, while Bragantino climb to G4 on 23 points, unbeaten in six games.
Botafogo beat Vasco 2-0
Botafogo put in an impeccable performance to beat Vasco 2-0 at Nilton Santos in a thrilling match on matchday 13 of the Campeonato Brasileiro. From start to finish, Botafogo maintained control of the game, with Luis Henrique (54 min) and Carlos Alberto (90+6 min) scoring the decisive goals. While Vasco tried to defend themselves, they struggled to create chances to equalize. Tiquinho Soares came close to a spectacular goal with a bicycle kick that hit the crossbar. Botafogo’s victory solidified their position as league leaders with 33 points, maintaining an eight-point lead over second-placed Gremio. Meanwhile, Vasco remained in the relegation zone with just nine points. Atlético-MG and América-MG draw 2-2
A thrilling match between Atlético-MG and América-MG ended in a 2-2 draw at Mineirão in the 13th round of the Brasileirão. Both teams failed to secure a favorable result, with Atlético in 10th place and América 19th in the table. In the first half, Atlético quickly took the lead through Zaracho (3 mins), who scored once more. Hulk (28 mins) took advantage of a defensive error by Marcinho to extend Atlético’s lead. However, in the second half, América reacted with determination. Substitute Mastriani made his name in the history books with two impressive goals, including an excellent header. He completed the double in just thirteen minutes. The draw was disappointing for Atlético, especially as Hulk received a red card after the final whistle, which ruled him out of the next match against Corinthians in Mineirão. Note that just before half-time, the host team’s coach, Luis Filipe Scolari, was sent off.
Palmeiras draw 2-2 with Athletico-PR, despite being ahead on the scoreboard
Palmeiras let a 2-0 lead slip and settled for a 2-2 draw against Athletico-PR in a Brasileirão clash at the Arena da Ligga. As early as the fourth minute, Andrik failed to score from the penalty spot. But he made amends when he closed down Breno Lopez’s cross in the 28th minute. At the start of the second half, Lopez took another pass to hit the target; Menino scored. But in the 67th minute, Garcia touched the ball with his hand and Vitor Bueno sealed the win from the penalty spot. Six minutes later, Vitor Roque equalized with a header. Despite some late pressure, the match ended in a draw. Palmeiras will be disappointed with the resignation of the leadership and the subsequent dismissal of Garcia.
Cuiabá beat Santos 3-0
Cuiabá scored an impressive 3-0 win over Santos at the Arena Pantanal in the 13th round of the Brasileirão. Deyverson, Denilson and Rikelme were the scorers of Dourado’s first home win in the competition. The result was yet another blow for Santos, who have now not won for 12 games and are edging ever closer to the relegation zone. The first half remained unchanged until Deyverson opened the scoring with a point-blank shot following a corner. Denilson doubled the lead with a powerful shot from outside the area, while Rikelme scored the third with a well-placed effort. Cuiabá’s dominance was evident when their fans celebrated with “olés” in the final moments of the match
