Luciano’s goal earns São Paulo a 1-0 win over Fluminense
São Paulo beat Fluminense 1-0 in a very tight match at the Morumbi Stadium. Luciano, wearing the number 10 shirt, scored the decisive goal and secured the three points for São Paulo. São Paulo put Fluminense under pressure early on, but both teams struggled to create clear chances in the first half. A brief argument between Luciano and Felipe Melo caused a momentary interruption, but play resumed. In the second half, Fluminense failed to capitalize on their possession, while São Paulo’s Thiago Santos sent out a warning signal to his team. Finally, Luciano’s goal in the 88th minute, after a VAR review, sealed the victory for São Paulo.
Grêmio beats Bahia 2-1
“Rehearsal” before these rivals meet in the 1/4 Cup (July 5). Grêmio won 2-1 against Bahia in an intense Brazilian Championship clash. The opponents exchanged goals in the first 20 minutes. Cristaldo and Gustavo Martins scored for Grêmio, while Kayky scored for Bahia. Both teams showed an attacking mentality, with quick transitions and efficient build-up play. Grêmio opened the scoring with a powerful goal from Carballo, but Bahia responded with Kayky scoring as well. In the second half, Gremio controlled the game. If Suarez’s goal was disallowed in the 60th minute, Gustavo Martins sealed victory for the guests with a powerful strike in the 95th minute. The win keeps Gremio in second place, with Bahia in 15th place in the standings.
Flamengo beat Fortaleza 2-0
Flamengo secured a 2-0 win over Fortaleza in an intense match in the Campeonato Brasileiro. Gabigol and Arrascaeta were the scorers, each hitting the back of the net at different times of the game. The match was attended by more than 60,000 passionate Flamengo fans at the Maracanã. Even at 0-0, Fortaleza had the chance to score from the penalty spot, but Iago Pikachu’s shot was saved by Flamengo goalkeeper Mateus Cunha. Flamengo maintained their lead in the second half, and Arrascaeta’s goal sealed the victory. Despite the defeat, Fortaleza showed courage and created several chances throughout the game. With this victory, Flamengo have accumulated 25 points and remain in third place, while Fortaleza have dropped to ninth place with 20 points.
Internacional and Cruzeiro draw goalless at Beira-Rio
In a match that concluded the 13th round of the Brazilian Championship, Internacional and Cruzeiro drew 0-0 on Saturday night. In the first half, Cruzeiro made efficient use of their mobile attack with Bruno Rodrigues, Wesley and Stênio, exploiting Internacional’s defensive vulnerabilities. However, a crucial intervention by Vitão prevented the goal after a mistake by Internacional goalkeeper John. Alemão’s foul initially resulted in a penalty, but after a VAR review, it was deemed an offside infringement and Alemão was shown a straight red card. Despite Internacional’s dominance and numerous attempts, both teams failed to score, resulting in a goalless draw at Beira-Rio.
