UFC Vegas 76, held at UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, featured four Brazilian fighters competing in the preliminary fights. Everyone won! Among them, Joanderson Brito won another impressive victory on Saturday. In a preliminary featherweight fight, Brito brutally knocked out underdog Westin Wilson during a submission attempt. The interruption came at 2:54 of the first round.
The women’s featherweight division, which was uncertain due to Amanda Nunes’ recent retirement, had a rare fight at UFC Vegas 76. Yana Santos faced Karol Rosa. Brazil’s Karol Rosa came out on top with a split decision victory, as two of the three judges scored it 29-28 in her favour. Unfortunately, Santos, who had already suffered two consecutive defeats, including one against former champion Holly Holm, now has a 0-3 record in her recent fights.
In her promotional debut at UFC Vegas 76, German flyweight Ivana Petrovic competed against Luana Carolina. Both fighters started the fight exchanging several kicks, while the second round saw more movement. The final round remained highly competitive, with no clear winner. However, when the scorecards were revealed, Luana Carolina secured victory by unanimous decision.
The preliminary card fight between lightweights Elvis Brener and Guram Kutateladze received the fight of the night bonus. Elvis Brener, defying expectations, scored a surprising victory over Guram Kutateladze during the preliminary card of UFC Vegas 76.
From the opening bell, it seemed that Elves Brener’s difficult journey was about to become insurmountable. Almost on the verge of defeat in the first round, he showed incredible resilience. Not even a violent elbow that caused a cut on his head in the second round could shake his unwavering determination. Brener emerged as a true underdog hero against the highly favored “Georgian Viking”, finishing him with a TKO at 3:17 of the 3rd round.
