The interim coach of the Brazilian national team, Ramon Menezes, highlighted some important points for the team to improve, after having suffered disappointment in the last two games, in which they lost to teams such as Senegal and Morocco. Menezes was disappointed with the results, but excited about his team’s style of play. The Brazilians were the better team in the first half against Senegal.
Senegal, but lost their way in the second half, conceding unnecessary goals and losing 4-2.
. Against Morocco, a few moments in which the Brazilian defense seemed to be disconnected turned out to be the decisive moments of the game, when the Africans won 2-1.
Lucas Paquetá opened the scoring early on against Senegal, in the second match of the anti-racism campaign in support of Vinicius Jr,
with Guinea the other opponent
. The Seleção were unable to maintain their lead and Senegal equalized. Things went downhill in the second half for the World Cup winners, who conceded two more goals before Sadio Mané’s emphatic penalty at the end of the game.
The coach agreed that the results weren’t as expected, but felt that his team’s style of play was up to scratch. He noticed a weakness in the final third and asked the players to work on it.
“It wasn’t what we expected. We worked hard during the week, you can see how the work was done. A very difficult game, against a team that did very well in the World Cup. We knew all the difficulties we were going to face. Even so, we have a great lesson. We circulated the ball a lot, but with little definition in the final third of the pitch. In the chance they had, Mané, very happy, managed to score the third goal. They managed to be more effective. In the opportunities they had, they managed to score“. said Menezes.
