The base team that secured the Brasileirão title in 2015 consisted of Cássio in goal, with Fagner, Felipe, Gil and Fábio Santos (later replaced by Arana/Uendel) forming the formidable defensive line. Ralf anchored the midfield, supported by Jadson, Elias and Renato Augusto. Completing the starting line-up were Malcom and Vagner Love up front. It’s worth noting that Fábio Santos left the team in the middle of the season, making room for Arana to stand out in decisive matches.
In addition to the eleven mentioned, both Edu Dracena and Rodriguinho, important reserves during the championship campaign, have also been called up to represent the Brazilian national team at various stages of their careers. This noteworthy achievement was revealed by journalist Tomás Rosolino, from the Meu Timão portal.
It’s a historic achievement for Corinthians, as no other team in recent memory has seen all its first-team players called up to the national team before or after winning the Brazilian title. The last team to reach a similar milestone was São Paulo, under the guidance of coach Telê Santana, who became champions in 1991.
Looking beyond Brazilian clubs, three other players from Corinthians’ title-winning team in 2015 – Mendoza, Romero and Guerrero – also had the opportunity to represent their respective national teams during their careers. The collective success and international recognition of Corinthians’ champion team further solidified its place in history as one of Brazil’s most successful teams.
