Brentford Football Club has secured the permanent signing of 20-year-old Romeo Beckham after a successful loan spell with the club’s B team. The talented youngster, son of former England player David Beckham, will now begin a new chapter in his career ahead of the next English soccer season.
During his loan spell, Beckham played a crucial role in Brentford’s League Cup win, impressing the coaching staff enough to earn him a full-time contract. Although the exact details of the transfer fee have not been revealed, Brentford are expected to pay a minimal compensation fee for his services.
This move marks the end of Beckham’s tenure at Inter Miami, the MLS franchise owned by his father. After initially stepping away from his soccer career following his departure from Arsenal’s academy in 2014, Beckham returned in 2021, joining Inter Miami following David Beckham’s involvement with the club.
Beckham spent some time playing for Inter Miami II before joining the first team in pre-season matches. In October 2022, he began training with Brentford and joined the club on a six-month loan in January 2023. Showing his potential, Beckham scored his first goal for Brentford in a Middlesex Senior Cup match and stayed at the London club until the end of the season.
With pre-season on the horizon, Beckham will be integrated into the team, with the aim of making strides towards the first team. Brentford B manager Neil MacFarlane expressed his satisfaction with Beckham’s contributions and declared his desire to continue working with the talented young player after the current season. It has been reported that Beckham’s desire to be closer to his girlfriend, Mia Regan, influenced his decision to stay in London.
MacFarlane emphasized Beckham’s importance to the team, describing him as a key member of a special group, and expressed his desire to help with the player’s future development. The club and coaching staff are optimistic about Beckham’s future prospects and look forward to witnessing his growth through the ranks at Brentford.
