The outstanding Denver Nuggets player Nikola Jokic was highly praised by tennis champion Novak Djokovic, who called him the best player in the NBA at the moment. Jokic was instrumental in the Nuggets’ victory over the Lakers in Game 4 of the NBA Finals, with 30 points and 13 assists. With a final score of 113-111 against the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals, his excellent effort helped the club to a historic victory, taking them to the NBA Finals for the first time in the franchise’s history.
During a press conference at the French Open, Djokovic admitted that he was paying too much attention to Jokic’s incredible achievements, including dazzling moments when he outplayed LeBron James and Anthony-Davis. The world’s third best tennis player congratulated his Serbian colleague and named him Most Valuable Player (MVP). Djokovic went on to say that no other basketball player can match Jokic’s current level of talent, and even called him “the pride of Serbia”. He emphasized his desire for Jokic to win his first NBA championship ring this season.
In addition to his appreciation for Jokic, Djokovic expressed his love for basketball and said that Serbia, as a nation, appreciates the sport. In addition, he demonstrated his own skill in the game, showing his brilliance on the basketball court. Despite his admiration for the sport, Djokovic feels that Serbia has never produced a player as extraordinary as Nikola Jokic. The 22-time Grand Slam champion acknowledged his desire to observe his fellow countryman’s skills first hand, hoping to see him play live one day.
Jokic, who was born in Sombor, Serbia, began his basketball career at a very young age. He was chosen by the Denver Nuggets as the 41st overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft, after playing for Mega Basket in his home country. Although Jokic got little playing time in his NBA debut in 2015-16, he gradually emerged as a rising talent in the following seasons.
In addition, Jokic proved to be a clutch player, helping the Nuggets to many wins in the post-season. With his exceptional skills and accomplishments, he has acquired a reputation as one of the best power forwards in the league and has emerged as a vital player in the Denver Nuggets’ quest for NBA greatness.
