Miami-Heat point guard Tyler-Herro, who suffered a broken hand during the playoffs, has been cleared for basketball activities and has started taking part in individual workouts. The update on Herro’s condition was provided by coach Erik-Spoelstra. Although there is no specific timetable for his return, Herro is showing signs of progress in his recovery.
The injury occurred on April 16, when Herro dived to catch a free kick during a game against Milwaukee. Describing the incident, Herro said that the second and third metacarpal bones in his throwing hand “simply snapped in half”. Herro subsequently underwent surgery on April 21 and was given a minimum recovery schedule of six weeks. Initially, it was thought that the injury would end the season, causing a significant blow to the eighth-placed Heat’s chances against the first-placed Bucks.
However, the Heat defied expectations, beating the Bucks and then the New York Knicks in the conference semi-finals.
Herro’s six-week surgery was due to end on June 2, while Game 1 of the finals is scheduled for June 1. The Denver Nuggets are waiting for the winner of the Celtics-Heat series. According to information from the Miami Herald, Herro’s return during the post-season is considered unlikely, although it hasn’t been completely ruled out.
During the regular season, Herro emerged as Miami’s third leading scorer, behind Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. He amassed an impressive 20.1 points per game, 5.4 rebounds per game and a vital 4.2 assists per game, while shooting 37.8% from three-point range on 8 attempts per game.
The Heat’s success in the post-season has depended a lot on their strong shooting. After ranking 27th in three-point shooting during the regular season, with a percentage of 34.4%, Miami upped its game with 38.8% from beyond the arc.
While Tyler Herro gradually returns to basketball activities and works on his recovery, the Miami Heat remain focused on their quest for an NBA championship. The team’s impressive performance in the post-season demonstrated their resilience and ability to overcome challenges, and Herro’s possible return could give them an extra boost in their quest for glory.
