Due to a left groin injury, the Suns’ Chris Paul will be out of action for at least a week. He is likely to miss games 3 to 5 in the Western Conference semi-finals against the Denver Nuggets. After undergoing an MRI scan on Tuesday, Paul will be re-evaluated in a week. Paul’s injury is being treated on a day-to-day basis, according to the Suns.
Due to stiffness in his groin, Paul was forced to leave Game 2 on Monday night during the third quarter. With five minutes left in the third quarter, he was fighting Kentavious Caldwell-Pope for a rebound. After that, Paul went back to the locker room, and as a consequence, the Suns lost Game 2, leaving the series at 2-0 to the Neggets.
Paul recorded eight points and six assists in just over 25 minutes of action. Devin Booker, expressed his sadness at the occurrence, adding: “I mean, it’s clearly a horrible event.” All we can do is hope he recovers quickly. We’ll be there for him. We’ll hold on while he’s gone.” Paul is seventh all-time in post-season assists and 11th all-time in steals in the NBA.
Paul’s absence will be a big blow for the Suns as they prepare for the upcoming games against the Nuggets. This season, Paul has been crucial to the Suns’ playoff run, offering leadership and knowledge on the court. With him out, the Suns will have to adapt their plan and rely on other players to fulfill their role.
To sum up, Chris Paul’s injury is a major setback for the Phoenix Suns. While he recovers from a left groin strain, the team will need to pull together and play at its best to beat the Nuggets in the Western Conference semi-finals.
