In the latest update of the FIFA World Ranking, the Brazilian women’s team, led by coach Pia Sundhage, made significant progress, overtaking the Netherlands and securing eighth place. With a total of 1,995.30 points, Brazil’s rise of one position in the ranking is proof of its growing prowess on the global stage.
The first place in the ranking is currently held by the United States women’s national team, the reigning world champions. It is followed by Germany, Sweden, England, France, Spain, Canada and now Brazil. This progress is particularly encouraging as the Women’s World Cup approaches(it will be held from July 20 to August 20, 2023), giving the Women’s National Team a boost of confidence.
Under the guidance of Pia Sundhage over the last four years, the Brazilian women’s national team has posted impressive performance statistics. Of the 53 matches played, the team won 32, drew 12 and lost 9, solidifying its reputation as a formidable force in women’s soccer.
While preparing for the upcoming Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, the Brazilian team is scheduled to take part in an international friendly against Chile on July 2 at the BRB Mané Garrincha Arena in Brasília, DF.
The World Cup journey will begin with a match against Panama on July 24 in Adelaide, marking a crucial moment for the talented Canarinha women’s team. They will then play France and Jamaica.
With its recent rise in the FIFA World Ranking, Brazil is aiming to make a strong impact on the global stage and compete for the ultimate glory in women’s soccer.
