Stein Cascavel won the Women’s Futsal Libertadores Cup 2023. The Brazilian women proved once again that attacking skills are the hallmark of Brazilian athletes. They won all six matches with a total score of 45-0!
Note that, in addition to a powerful game in attack, perfect play in defense became the key to the triumph – ZERO goals conceded, a result worthy of respect.
In the group stage, the following teams were beaten in succession:
- Club Atlético Peñarol (Uruguay) – 6:0
- Deportes Valdivia (Chile) – 11:0
- Always Ready (Bolivia) – 1:0
- Kapital Soccer (Colombia) – 14:0
In the semi-finals, the Brazilians beat Exa Ysaty 8-0.
Incidentally, in the other semi-final, San Lorenzo lost 4-6 to Always Ready, but in the third-place play-off, the Argentinians drew 2-2 with Exa Ysaty, winning 4-1 on penalties.
Note that in the final, Stein Cascavel faced Always Ready. It was this team that offered the Brazilians the most dignified resistance in the group stage, losing only 0-1. The score, by futsal standards, is very “modest”.
But in the final, the Bolivians lost 0-5. In the first half, Stein Cascavel scored two goals (Camilinha 7, Tais Andrade 17 from the penalty spot), and in the second – Tais Andrade 25, Alice Duarte 27, Camilinha 38 – three more times forced their opponents to clear the ball out of the net.
Stein Cascavel’s victory continued the trend of success for Brazilian clubs in the Women’s Futsal Libertadores Cup. With the win, they became the eighth Brazilian team in a row to win the tournament. However, what set Stein Cascavel apart was the fact that they were a newcomer to the competition, which made their achievement even more remarkable.
The team’s success highlights their skill, determination and ability to perform under pressure. Their dominant campaign and surprising statistics have cemented their place as one of the strongest teams in women’s futsal. The Women’s Futsal Libertadores Cup 2023 will be remembered as the tournament in which Stein Cascavel demonstrated their excellence and made history by lifting the trophy in their first appearance.
