The NBA’s most valuable basketball athlete, Joel-Embiid, was selected to the All-NBA first team when the conference announced its three All-NBA teams. Meanwhile, LeBron-James extended his record run of 19 consecutive picks.
Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics, Giannis-Antetokounmpo of the Bucks, Luka-Doncic of the Mavs and Gilgeous-Alexander of the City-Thunder joined Embiid on the first team.
With his eighth pick, Stephen-Curry of the Golden State-Warriors led the second team. Donovan-Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Nikola-Jokic of the Nuggets, Jimmy-Butler (Heat) and Jaylen-Brown of the Celtics are also on the list.
LeBron-James led the third-team selections, having made the All-NBA team every year, leaving out his first season. He was joined by Domantas-Sabonis and De’Aaron Fox from the Kings, Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers and Julius-Randle from the Knicks.
Embiid won his first MVP award and made the All-NBA first team. He finished 2nd, just behind Jokic, in the race for the MVP award in the previous two seasons and was chosen for the All-NBA second team behind Jokic in three of the previous four seasons (and Anthony Davis in 2018). However, he has managed to stand out in this difficult season.
This is the seventh time that Antetokounmpo has been chosen for the first team in the race. He scored 31.1 points, 11.8 rebounds and 5.7 assists for the Bucks this season, but his club was beaten in the first round of the playoffs by the Miami Heat. Antetokounmpo was the only player unanimously chosen in the first team.
Tatum was named to his second straight first team and third overall, while Doncic was named to his fourth consecutive first team.
Gilgeous-Alexander was instrumental in getting the young Thunder to the play-in game of the tournament 8-9. Despite missing the entire season due to injury, Gilgeous-Alexander’s efforts earned her first selection to the All-NBA team. The Thunder, on the other hand, have assembled one of the youngest teams in the NBA.
Finally, the announcement of the All-NBA teams demonstrated the deserved recognition of excellent players who shone throughout the NBA season. In addition to being named the league’s Most Valuable Player, Joel Embiid’s participation on the first team was a major milestone in his career. Meanwhile, LeBron James continued to solidify his reputation, increasing his record to an incredible 19 picks. These choices not only honor individual brilliance, but also testify to the skill demonstrated by these inspiring basketball athletes.
