In a weekend full of Brazilian Serie A matches, Fortaleza scored four goals against Fluminense in a thrilling game, while Palmeiras secured a win in the derby against Corinthians. Meanwhile, Coritiba and São Paulo drew 1-1, Red Bull Bragantino lost 3-0 to Cruzeiro, Santos beat América-MG 3-2 and Hulk scored twice in Atlético-MG’s 2-1 win over Athletico-PR.
Coritiba and São Paulo share spoils
Coritiba and São Paulo drew 1-1 on Saturday. Bruno Gomes opened the scoring for Coritiba in the 13th minute, after an assist from Alef Manga. The home side held the lead for much of the game, but São Paulo continued to press and eventually equalized in the 81st minute through Marcos Paulo, who was set up by Caio Paulista. Despite both teams having chances to win, the match ended in a very tight draw.
Fortaleza beat Fluminense 4-2
Fortaleza secured a decisive victory by beating Fluminense 4-2 in a thrilling game on Saturday. Thiago Galhardo opened the scoring for the hosts in the 29th minute, before Moisés increased the lead with a goal in the 35th minute. However, Fluminense managed to reduce the gap just before half-time with Alan’s goal in first-half stoppage time. In the second half, Moisés completed both goals in the 60th minute, while John Kennedy reduced the deficit for Fluminense in the 69th minute. But Fortaleza sealed victory with a late goal from Hercules in the 79th minute, securing three vital points.
Palmeiras beat Corinthians 2-1
Palmeiras came out victorious against arch-rivals Corinthians in a very tight match. Murilo put Palmeiras ahead in the 16th minute thanks to an assist from Raphael Veiga. Corinthians tried to equalize, but their efforts were thwarted by a Palmeiras save. Palmeiras extended their lead in the 36th minute when Raphael Veiga shot into the back of the net. Corinthians managed to reduce the deficit in the 76th minute with an own goal from Joaquín Piquerez, but it was too little too late as Palmeiras held on for the win.
Cruzeiro win comfortable 3-0 victory over Red Bull Bragantino
Cruzeiro dominated Red Bull Bragantino with a convincing 3-0 win on Saturday in the final round of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. The visitors took an early lead when Ramiro scored in the first minute. Red Bull Bragantino tried to fight back, but suffered a major setback in the 27th minute when Aderlan Silva was shown the red card. Gilberto extended Cruzeiro’s lead in the 65th minute and Bruno Nascimento scored the third goal in the 87th minute. Red Bull Bragantino’s Cleiton also received a red card in the 79th minute, making it a difficult day for the hosts.
Santos secure 3-2 win over América-MG
Santos came out victorious in a thrilling match against América-MG. The home side got off to a bad start when Alê scored after just seven minutes for the visitors. However, Stiven Mendoza leveled the score in the 19th minute. Eduardo Gabriel completed the turnaround in Santos’ lead with a goal in the 40th minute, but was shown the red card in the final minutes of the game. In the second half, Everaldo equalized for the visitors, but Marcos Leonardo scored from the penalty spot in the 69th minute to secure a decisive victory for Santos.
Hulk scores twice as Atlético-MG beat Athletico-PR
Atlético-MG won 2-1 against Athletico-PR. Brazilian striker Hulk made the difference for the home side, scoring twice in the 10th and 84th minutes to secure the three points for his team. Athletico-PR’s Alex Santana was also shown a straight red card in the 80th minute. Despite Vitor Roque’s late goal for Athletico-PR, it was a consolation for Atlético-MG to hold on for the win.
