Fluminense coach Fernando Diniz spoke to the press after the 1-1 draw with Vasco in the Brasileirão. During the press conference, he analyzed the game and expressed his belief that his team should have won. Despite the fact that Vasco played to his characteristics, Diniz said that he didn’t think the first half was bad and that he enjoyed the game.
Diniz acknowledged that Vasco are a great team and credited them with their ability to score. However, Diniz highlighted his team’s improvement in the second half and the creation of chances with the openings from Árias and Lima. He also noted that after Vasco scored, they played in a low block, which made the situation more comfortable for them.
“Having played at home, we were able to prepare well, and our team’s improvement in the game against Vasco was the result of a tactical change and not a player substitution. Although we created several chances to score, the ball just wouldn’t go in, which is part of soccer“, added Diniz.
The coach also commented: “Despite this, we firmly believe that we should have won the game comfortably due to our dominant performance, and we deserved to have scored more goals. Our Team of Warriors will face Cruzeiro next Wednesday, May 10, at 9:30 p.m. in Mineirão, continuing our campaign in the Brasileirão“.
The press conference took place after the team’s draw against Vasco in the Brasileirão Série A. Fluminense dominated the 90 minutes, after going behind in the first minute of the game through Pedro Raul’s goal (1′) and receiving an assist from Alex Teixeira.
Fluminense tried to get back into the game, but failed to convert their chances in the first half. After the break, Fluminense equalized through Lima in the 55th minute. But the home side were unable to add to their tally and the match ended in a draw.
