Ednaldo Rodrigues, president of the CBF, once again addressed the issue of the possible appointment of Ancelotti as the new coach of the Brazilian national team, which has been vacant for five months since Tite’s departure.
In an interview with the “Bein Sports” channel, the president revealed that he is willing to extend the deadline, which was originally set for May 25, and that he will not rush the decision-making process. Ancelotti remains the main choice for the job.
“I’d like to reach the end of May announcing a coach, but that’s not the case. We have two FIFA dates in June, but we also have the finals of competitions such as La Liga and the Champions League. We’re following everything. Everyone asks me about Ancelotti, whether at the airport or at the stadium. Everything in soccer is as if it were yesterday for the fans, for the press, but we’re doing everything in our own time, nothing rash. I also like to hear other opinions“. – said Ednaldo.
In addition to Ancelotti, the CBF is considering other potential candidates, such as Abel Ferreira, Jorge Jesus and Zinedine Zidane. However, Ancelotti is the top priority due to his recent achievement as reigning Champions League winner. Although there is no formal offer, CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues said that the entity has been monitoring Ancelotti’s interest in the job. “
He’s plan A
” said Rodrigues, who acknowledged his preference for the Italian coach. The CBF is committed to ethical considerations and will only begin talks if Ancelotti expresses an interest in the job. Otherwise, they’ll move on to plan B.
The expectation is that the Brazilian national team will play again during the next FIFA date, which will take place between June 12 and 20. However, no coach has yet been confirmed for the team. The Brazilian team’s next definitive match is scheduled for September, when they face Bolivia in the opening round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
