Unifacisa 92 – 90 Franca
Unifacisa Basquetel took the lead in the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) quarter-final series after beating Franca 92-90 in the third game at the Unifacisa Arena in Campina Grande, Paraíba. The Paraibans now lead the series 2-1 and need just one more game to reach the semi-finals.
In the opening game of the series in São Paulo, Unifacisa ended Franca’s 46-game unbeaten run. At Pedroco, the team won 100-91. Franca bounced back with an 86-73 win in the second game, which was played in Campina Grande. However, Unifacisa’s latest win has given them the lead in the series once again.
Unifacisa’s point guard Gaskins led all scorers with 28 points, followed by Corvalán and Gerson, who scored 18 points each. More points for Franca: Smith (17 points), Scala (15) and Lucas Mariano (15).
The fourth game of the series will be played on Sunday at the Pedroco Gymnasium in São Paulo. If Unifacisa win the game, they will progress to the semi-finals. If Franca wins, the decisive fifth game will also be played in São Paulo, as the team performed better overall than Unifacisa.
