The draw for the last 16 of the Copa do Brasil took place at CBF headquarters in Rio de Janeiro. All 16 clubs have been entered into a single draw, which means that any club can play any opponent. Thanks to the ‘blind draw’, we can see great duels such as Fluminense and Flamengo or Cruzeiro and Gremio, the clubs that have won the Cup the most times.
For qualifying for the quarter-finals, each of the participants will receive a prize of R$4.3 million. If we talk about the finalists, the winner will receive a prize of R$70 million and the losing team R$30 million. In fact, the total prize pool for the World Cup will be around 500 million reais, a record amount in the history of this tournament.
The first legs of the Round of 16 will be played on May 17 and the second legs on May 31.

Galvão Bueno – 42 years as a commentator
As part of the raffle event, legendary commentator Galvão Bueno, 72, was also awarded a prize. The President of the Federation, Ednaldo Rodriguez, presented the “Voice of the World Cup” with a commemorative plaque with the inscription: “To Pelé of the voice and emotion of the Brazilian fans”. The words are minted against a background with a photo of Galvão and the CBF emblem.
In 1974, Galvão joined Rádio Gazeta and then moved to the same group’s TV station. In his 42-year career, Galvão has narrated 13 World Cups and said he plans to remain active for at least two more.
