Former Arsenal player Jack Wilshere praised Mikel Arteta, whom he considers a genius. Wilshere mentioned that Arteta has had a profound and wonderful influence on the Arsenal soccer club, which extends beyond the first team and also reaches the youth teams.
Jack Wilshere is back where he belongs and the former England midfielder has rediscovered his love of soccer after being appointed manager of Arsenal’s Under-18 team.
Wilshere is now in charge from the bench, where he hopes to make a big difference. Of course, his playing career met with an unfortunate fate, as the former prodigy, who began his tenure at Arsenal with so much promise, had to retire last year at the age of 31 after a series of injuries and struggles with fitness.
Although Wilshere was considered a world-class player when he first burst onto the scene, frequent injuries and inconsistency led him to become a nomad whose achievements were quickly forgotten.
However, he is on a new career path now and is looking to inspire the next generation of players. With an FA Youth Cup semi-final with Manchester City coming up soon, Wilshere discussed how he rediscovered his love for the game.
“It gave me back my deep love of soccer. And I didn’t know I’d lost it, to be honest. I came back here last year – I was training a bit, training a bit. So I made a decision to do” he told the Daily Mail.
Wilshere is also working closely with a player he played with in midfield – Mikel Arteta. Having taken over the reins of the club at the end of 2019, the Spaniard has transformed its fortunes and Arsenal is extremely close to ending its long wait for the league title.
Wilshere was very impressed with Arteta and praised his training methods, mentioning his way of dealing with people as a strong point.
“He’s a very intelligent coach, but he also knows how to motivate people,” he said.“When you have a connection with your players like Mikel – and you can see that he really cares – the players accept that and they’ll do what you want,” he added.
