La Liga may no longer be the home of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, but some of the world’s greatest talents still play in Spain’s top flight. Celta de Vigo’s Gabri Veiga is one of those gems who has been linked with a number of clubs, including the two superpowers, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
According to a report in El Nacional, Veiga is considering choosing between the two La Liga giants, although he believes he can win more trophies at the Santiago Bernabéu. The 20-year-old has won many admirers with his performances for Celta and is attracting interest from all over Europe. The youngster has also scored a total of nine goals this season, as well as providing a further four assists in 30 appearances so far.
The Spanish prodigy has attracted interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona, although Premier League giants Arsenal are also known for keeping tabs on Veiga. According to reports, the Celta de Vigo midfielder could move if the interested parties can come up with a figure of 40 million pounds. Barcelona president Joan Laporta said he was very keen not to lose the talented player.
Nacional’s report states that Veiga believes moving to the Spanish capital would be his preferred choice and should snub the Catalans because he believes he may have a better chance of winning titles at the Santiago Bernabéu in the coming years. With the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos entering the twilight of their careers, and Dani Ceballos’ future still uncertain, opportunities may open up for Veiga, however, he may have to fight for his place in midfield with the new wave of talent such as Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni among others.
However, the Celta de Vigo star wants to seal a move to the Santiago Bernabéu, but it remains to be seen whether the transfer will take place in the next transfer window.
